How to use Letter Recognition Mats:

There are TWO versions of this activity included to suit the changing needs of your growing learner: The first features various upper and lowercase letters all in the same, easy-to-read font. This is a option to choose when first introducing letters. I consider the second version “step 2” as it requires more familiarity with the letters; The same letter may look slightly different depending on the font so confident letter-recognition is definitely helpful.
To play: use any loose parts of your choosing to find and cover all of the letters indicated at the top of the page (i.e. if you are working with the “Jj” page, find and cover all of the Jj’s). Bingo chips and nuts were used in the photo above. Other options might include pompoms, stones, gems, play dough, foam stickers (with the backing still on), etc.
